Harmony Habitat
Fortlandia 2024: Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
October 4th, 2024 - February 2nd, 2025
“Harmony Habitat” is a geodesic structure comprising two interconnected halves of a subdivided icosahedron. The two halves come together at a common pentagonal plane, connecting a dark underground burrow to a suspended nest. This fort invites children to explore Central Texas plants and animals, while introducing them to harmonic geometry and three-dimensional shapes.
The structure is adorned with images of wildlife in their natural environments—animals inside their burrows and dens surrounded by earth and plants, and birds aloft in their nests. Children are welcome to engage in any way their imaginations move them, whether climbing among the plants on top of the burrow, finding shady reprieve with the animals below, or climbing through the nest to perch with the birds.
